It means “forever young” and I think it turned out really great. I love it. It was done abroad.
This is my first tattoo and I just got it today, September 3rd, as my 18th birthday present. My grandpa just passed and I’ve been having an extremely hard time so I got this to remind myself that I’m on this earth for a reason, and I can make it through any hardships. “Keep on dreamin’ boy cause when you stop dreamin’ it’s time to die” Shannon Hoon 1967 - 1995
Because Blind Melon has held such a big part in my life for the longest time. Shannon Hoon has shaped my mental views forever. I am more than honored to have his words on my back.
I recently had the last line of the Great Gatsby placed squarely on top of my shoulder, which is, incidentally, incredibly difficult to take a photograph of up-close (probably because I always somehow end up moving my arm around, which warps the placement of the tattoo and detracts from its true size; here it is drawn back a bit and a bit more within the context of my body.)
Anyway, literature, literacy, and the advocacy of education have always been extremely important to me. Fitzgerald really struck a chord in high school when I first started reading his works. The last line of Gatsby is very eloquent and holds personal meaning as well. I do love it dearly.

“The American Standard translation orders men to triumph over sin, and you can call sin ignorance. The King James translation makes a promise in ‘Thou shalt,’ meaning that men will surely triumph over sin. But the Hebrew word, the word timshel—‘Thou mayest’— that gives a choice. It might be the most important word in the world. That says the way is open. That throws it right back on a man. For if ‘Thou mayest’—it is also true that ‘Thou mayest not.’ Don’t you see?”

This is my first tattoo, it’s about a life time when I felt like the lyrics of the 505 song by Arctic Monkeys

Jareth the Goblin-King. Mmmm, yeah.
My love affair with David Bowie began when I was a kid and saw him in ‘Labyrinth’ and is still going strong after 20 years.
